Before...
Last August Paige fell out of a shopping cart at Target and landed on her two front teeth. One was chipped and the other just hurt. Both teeth eventually started to go a little gray but were hanging in there. A few days ago I noticed some little white bubbles on her gums above both front teeth...infection. Her dentist told me to watch for this. He said the its the body's way of trying to get rid of the damaged teeth. The roots start to decay and infection develops. There is no way to save the tooth once this happens and so extraction is the only answer. Greg spared me from having to watch my little girl get her teeth pulled. He was a great daddy. He gave her a blessing the night before and then took Paige to her appointment. He told me that she was very brave. The office staff even told him that it was the best she had even been. She usually wont even sit in the chair. Nash (who has never been the actual patient) always climbs right up in the chair and happily watches cartoon on the overhead TV while Paige huddles in the corner next to me. But, not today! Today she marched right in with all the confidence in the world, climbed right into the chair and was as brave as could be. She did cry and scream once the shots and pulling started, but who could blame her. When she came home she looked so sad and worn out. She had a little white towel with spots of blood next to her mouth and all she wanted was for me to hold her. She wouldn't talk, smile, eat, or play for about an hour. When she did first start to talk and open her mouth again it was to play with Nash. We'd hear her talking to him and then come in the room and she would go back to grunting to communicate. Greg saved the day again by pulling out some ice cream sandwiches from the freezer and Paige couldn't resist. After that she was her old self again and wanted to talk all about her teeth. She wanted to call everyone and tell them all about it. She was happy and brave and said she liked her new smile. She says she looks really cute and we agree!
